About this contract

Our client is a specialist provider of railway maintenance and engineering solutions, supporting the rail industry through the delivery of specialist equipment, services and overhaul projects.

They are looking for a hands-on and organised Inventory & Tooling Controller to support their stores, inventory and materials management operations. This is a varied role involving stock control, goods inwards and dispatch, tooling management and general workshop support, ensuring materials are available when required and all activities are completed safely and efficiently.

Employment Type: 3 Month Contract
Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 07:00-15:30

Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, store and issue materials, ensuring accurate stock records and system updates.
Maintain stock levels, storage locations, part identification and regular stock checks.
Coordinate the return of materials for repair, overhaul, calibration or replacement.
Prepare, package and dispatch materials and orders, ensuring all required documentation is completed.
Load and unload deliveries using forklift equipment, ensuring safe handling and secure storage.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe stores and workshop environment.
Update inventory records and material transactions within the MRP system.
Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve material, delivery and quality issues.
Support continuous improvement and efficient materials management.
Undertake occasional delivery driving and general workshop maintenance.
Follow all relevant health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.Essential Requirements
GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or equivalent.
Valid UK driving licence.
Valid reach and counterbalance forklift licences.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to handle materials safely.Desirable Experience
At least two years’ experience in a fast-paced industrial or heavy engineering environment.
Previous experience in stores, inventory control, warehousing, logistics or materials management.
Familiarity with stock management or MRP systems.
Understanding of COSHH, manual handling and health and safety procedures.
