SEN Teaching Assistant - Colchester
Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across a range of welcoming and inclusive primary schools in Colchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for compassionate, proactive, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping children reach their full potential. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group SEN support within the classroom.
Support pupils with learning, emotional, behavioural, and social development.
Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff.
Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom where required.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who:
Are available full-time, Monday to Friday.
Have a passion for supporting children and young people.
Have experience working with children in any capacity.
Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Are patient, resilient, and adaptable.
Can work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
Previous childcare or youth work experience is highly desirable, including:
Primary school or secondary school experience
Nursery or early years settings
SEN support roles
Youth clubs or community groups
Sports coaching or sports clubs
Drama, theatre, dance, or performing arts clubs
Holiday camps or childcare provisions
Residential care or support work
