Autism Practitioner
Location: Epping
Hours: 8-4, Full-time

We are looking for a caring, patient and dedicated Autism Practitioner in Epping to join our supportive team and work closely with children and young people with autism and additional needs. The successful candidate will provide individualised support to help pupils develop their communication, independence, social skills and confidence, while creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with autism and additional learning needs on an individual and small-group basis.
Working alongside teachers and other professionals to support pupils' individual education and development plans.
Providing encouragement and reassurance to help pupils engage in learning and classroom activities.
Supporting communication, social interaction and the development of independent living skills.
Helping pupils manage emotions, behaviour and changes to their routines in a calm and positive manner.
Using appropriate strategies to support pupils with sensory, communication and behavioural needs.
Assisting pupils with classroom activities, personal organisation and transitions throughout the school day.
Encouraging positive behaviour and building pupils' confidence, self-esteem and independence.
Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtime and other school activities.
Observing and recording pupils' progress, behaviour and achievements and communicating relevant information to teaching staff.
Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, SEN staff, therapists and parents/carers.
Maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to reach their potential.The successful candidate will ideally have:
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with autism or additional needs.
A caring, patient and understanding approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to remain calm and positive when dealing with challenging situations.
Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of autism and evidence-based support strategies.
A genuine commitment to helping children and young people develop their skills, confidence and independence.About the School
