Education First are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Greenwich on a long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong background working with children who is passionate about supporting pupils with their learning, development and well-being.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils engage with lessons, develop confidence and make progress both academically and personally.
The Role – Teaching Assistant
* Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 within the classroom and wider school environment.
* Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
* Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons and learning activities.
* Supporting pupils with their literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum development.
* Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and participation.
* Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and challenging behaviour where required.
* Helping pupils develop their social skills, independence and emotional well-being.
* Supporting classroom behaviour management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
* Working alongside teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
* Providing support both inside and outside the classroom as required.
* Encouraging pupils to develop positive learning habits and achieve their potential.
The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience working with children in a primary school, SEN, nursery or similar educational setting.
* Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour.
* A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
* The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and school staff.
* A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
* Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support is desirable.
* Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN or childcare are desirable but not essential.
* The ability to adapt to different classroom environments and respond to pupils' individual needs.
