About the Role
Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for your next opportunity within education?
Complete Classroom Services is currently recruiting for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join supportive secondary schools across Southeast London and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant school-based Science Technician experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to support high-quality practical science lessons.
You will play an important role in preparing laboratories, equipment and resources for lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, while working closely with teachers to ensure practical sessions run safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and set up equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons.
* Support teachers during practical lessons, demonstrations and experiments.
* Ensure laboratories are appropriately prepared before and after lessons.
* Safely store, maintain and dispose of laboratory equipment and chemicals.
* Follow COSHH, health and safety and school laboratory procedures at all times.
* Maintain clean, safe and well-organised laboratories and preparation areas.
* Monitor stock levels, maintain accurate inventories and assist with ordering resources.
* Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment.
* Prepare resources for examinations, practical assessments and science activities.
* Assist with science displays, open evenings, school events and enrichment activities.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider science department.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Previous relevant experience working as a Science Technician within a school setting – essential.
* Good knowledge of laboratory procedures and practical science equipment.
* An understanding of COSHH and laboratory health and safety requirements.
* Experience preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
* The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and a professional approach when working with staff and students.
* A science-related qualification such as A-level, degree or equivalent would be desirable.
