We're hiring: Deputy Payroll & Benefits Manager
Are you an experienced payroll professional who enjoys accuracy, detail and delivering a great colleague experience? We're looking for a Deputy Payroll & Benefits Manager to join our People Team on an initial 3-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent. We are based in Welwyn Garden City AL7 1EL.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can confidently support accurate, timely and compliant payroll and benefits administration, working closely with the Payroll & Benefits Manager, People Administrators and wider stakeholders across the business.
What You'll Be Doing
Completing end-to-end payroll activities accurately and on time, including payroll input, deductions, statutory payments, pensions, tax code changes, bonuses and student loans
Carrying out payroll reconciliations, investigating variances and ensuring any differences are resolved appropriately
Supporting payslips, P45s, P60s, P11Ds, PAYE Settlement Agreement information and other statutory payroll processes
Administering colleague benefits including pensions, medical plans, cycle to work, holiday buy and reward schemes
Supporting employee equity plans, payroll reporting, audits, business projects and continuous process improvement
Handling payroll and benefits queries professionally, escalating more complex or sensitive matters where needed
What We're Looking For
A qualified and experienced payroll professional with strong hands-on payroll knowledge
Excellent knowledge of HMRC and payroll-related statutory requirements, including pensions auto enrolment and RTI
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data, reconciliations and reporting
Experience of benefits administration and an understanding of how benefits interact with payroll
The ability to learn new systems quickly; experience with Brain Payroll would be helpful but is not essential
A calm, organised and confidential approach, with excellent attention to detail and strong relationship-building skills
