Protocol Education is recruiting a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary setting in Gateshead from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and wants a role where relationships genuinely matter.
The school offers a calm and structured environment with high academic expectations. Students are supported to overcome barriers to education whilst being encouraged to work towards strong academic outcomes, including GCSE qualifications at Key Stage 4.
The Role

Monday-Friday
8:30am-4:30pm
Term-time only
Long-term position with permanent potential
Your day could include:
Supporting students within lessons
Helping students access the curriculum
Providing 1:1 and small group support
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
Supporting literacy and written communication
Helping students improve spelling and written accuracy
Building relationships during breakfast and lunch
Supporting social activities and pastoral provision
Working alongside teachers and the wider support team
You won't simply be expected to sit at the back of the classroom. You'll be actively involved in lessons, moving around the room, supporting students and helping them engage with their work.
The ideal candidate
This school is looking for someone who is:
Confident. Energetic. Approachable. Resilient.
You don't necessarily need years of school experience. They are particularly interested in people who can connect naturally with young people and are willing to learn and develop.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
