Fox Morris Group are delighted to be supporting Lancashire County Council in recruiting experienced Highways Operatives / Skilled Roadworkers to support the delivery of the 2026/27 Highway Improvement Capital Programme.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of major highways projects, including road resurfacing, regeneration schemes, drainage improvements and public transport infrastructure.

Your Role

Working as part of the Countywide Projects Team, you will carry out a wide range of highway maintenance and civil engineering activities on live highway environments, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out full footway and carriageway reconstruction works.

* Install kerbs, edgings, tactile paving, drainage pipes, gullies and chambers.

* Construct ducting and chambers.

* Lay bituminous materials and complete reinstatement works.

* Operate small plant including rollers, compactors, saws and breakers.

* Set out works accurately to line and level with minimal supervision.

* Lead a small gang or act as the lead operative on site when required.

* Maintain high standards of health & safety and workmanship at all times.

Essential Requirements

To be considered, candidates must have:

* Proven experience working on live highways or civil engineering projects.

* Experience carrying out footway and carriageway reconstruction.

* Experience laying drainage pipes, gullies and associated drainage systems.

* Ability to set out and work to line and level without close supervision.

* Good knowledge of Lancashire Specifications / Highway Standards.

* Valid NRSWA Street Works Operative Accreditation.

* Valid CSCS Card (minimum requirement).

* Experience leading a small gang or supervising works on site
